With Halloween just over Christmas fast approaching, Netflix has just put up some new shows in the name of holiday cheer. These are some of the shows we’re excited or you to enjoy.
- The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
This adaptation of the “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” tale is a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror and the occult. In the reimagined origin story, Sabrina Spellman wrestles to reconcile her dual nature — half-witch, half-mortal — while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family — including aunts Hilda and Zelda — and the daylight world humans inhabit. Some say this show is even based in the same universe as ‘Riverdale’. Talk about comics gone wild!
Annie Landsberg and Owen Milgrim are two strangers who are drawn to the late stages of a mysterious pharmaceutical trial. Each has a different reason for participating in the experiment — she is disaffected and aimless, fixated on broken relationships with her mother and sister, while he has struggled throughout his life with a disputed diagnosis of schizophrenia. The radical treatment, using pills that the inventor claims can repair anything about the mind, draws Annie, Owen and 10 other subjects into a three-day drug trial that they’re told will permanently solve all of their problems, with no complications or side effects. Unfortunately, things don’t go as planned.
3. The Haunting of Hill House
This modern reimagining of the Shirley Jackson novel follows siblings who, as children, grew up in what would go on to become the most famous haunted house in the country. Now as adults, they are forced back together in the face of tragedy and must finally confront the ghosts of their past. Some of those ghosts still lurk in their minds, while others may actually be stalking the shadows of Hill House.
4. The Good Cop
Big Tony is a lovable, but not exactly honorable, former NYPD officer who never followed the rules. He lives with his son, TJ, a straight-laced NYPD detective who always follows the rules while solving Brooklyn’s toughest cases talktosonic.com.
They may be an odd couple but they become unofficial partners with Tony Sr. offering his overly cautious son blunt, street-wise advice.
Appearing to be a united family, Bartrand and Laura are actually at the brink of parting ways. The cycle of regular life drags them to utter tedium and strains their relationship as days pass.
